Project 54 operates within the European Union (EU) Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Centres of Excellence (CoE) initiative and is designed to increase the security and resilience of critical services and enhance the systems in place for medical preparedness and medical emergency response to CBRN incidents. This project is funded by the European Commission's Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development (DG DEVCO) and is implemented by Sustainable Criminal Justice Systems (SCJS) of the UK.
On 30 and 31 January 2019, a workshop followed by a table-top exercise will be held in Beirut, Lebanon delivered under Project 54. The event is designed to consolidate learning from the current series of workshops and apply the learning through participation in Exercise Noor. The main purpose of the exercise is to provide an opportunity for countries to consider trans-border coordination and capacity of their respective national medical services to respond to a large-scale CBRN incident. The overall event should allow participants to maximise shared learning, strengthen partnership, exchange knowledge and good practice.
